This is hands down the best-directed film I’ve seen since The Lives of Others in 2006 and Atonement in 2007. I saw it in theatres last summer and have meant to tell more people. For those of you that have Netflix, put it on your instant queue and watch it. Like, now.
The title obviously translates to Revenge, which fuels the action after the film’s first act. Plot: ex-con Alex plans to flee to the South with his girl after a robbery, but something terrible happens and revenge seems inevitable.
Dramatic stuff here, let me tell you, with strong echoes back to Greek tragedy. Watch it and let’s talk. I was going to post the trailer, but there’s casual nudity in it.
Thank you, James. I will add this one to the (sadly short) list of good movies to see.
The list is only as sadly short as your sense of adventure, Peter.
